Britain's Best Home

The work of Be Seated was recently featured on a Channel 4 programme, 'Britain's Best Home'.

The programme, which sought to find the best home in Britain, featured a different type of home each week, including conversions, new build, apartments, listed, attached, detached and cottages.

Bonnington House, which was judged to be the best in its category of listed properties commissioned Be Seated to manufacture and restore furniture.

This four storey house situated just outside Edinburgh is an A-listed Jacobean Revival Mansion and is the only example of this type of architecture remaining in Scotland. The house was previously empty before the present owners lovingly restored it using a skilful mix of historic and modern styles.

Apart from working on the manufacture and restoration of furniture in the house, Be Seated was also commissioned to cover the walls of the main bedroom in fabric, a feature which certainly caught the judges' attention. They described the bedroom as "…magical, absolutely perfect, even the walls have been covered in fabric for extra indulgence." One presenter was even reduced to tears by the luxury and sensuality of the room!

The owners of Bonnington House have created a beautiful and practical family home, successfully blending old and new furniture with a stylish colour palatte. Their brave ideas and attention to detail really are inspirational and a bold treatment of their listed home.
